KIEngineering
Home Page
Welcome to KIEngineering.

This site is dedicated to sharing my passion for building my own Lamborghini Countach from scratch. It started 17 years ago after watching the original Cannonball Run. The car has since been completed and I thought it was time to share my experience. I have learned a lot during the journey and have met a lot of people along the way. It was a challenge as you might imagine but it was fulfilling a life long dream. Take a look at the History page and tell me what you think. - Ken

A scratch built all aluminum body Countach with a Ford Boss 351 V8 mated to a ZF-5 speed transaxle . 48 IDA Webers stick through the rear deck and pretty much block any kind of rear view. A complete custom tube frame with Corvette suspension and Wilwood brakes  riding on my own design billet 3 piece rims.  Racing slicks?? 10" front and 14" rears reminiscent of the Trans Am era...yeah, old school.

Weighing a slight 2700 lbs. with 514hp, makes a very good power to weight ratio. Performance figures coming soon!

Looks better outside in the sun light. Always looked a little green in the garage!

NEW UPDATE 6/28/09

The economic crisis has hit us and I find myself unemployed from my daily job. Yes, the one that pays the bills for my family of four. I will continue this site on a limited shoe string budget as we get through these difficu
lt times. If there is something I can do for you to help us both out, please see my service page as I have updated it to be a little more descriptive on what I can do for you.

Now an update on the car. I was ready to take the car for a ride after making a throttle pedal modification, when the pedal stuck at WOT! I added a bell crank to the carbs to give a mechanical advantage to ease the effort on the pedal but the pull cable just went slack before returning and jammed. I could have added a heavier return spring but that just defeats the purpose. Answer? Change over to a push/pull cable like used on a shifter. I should have done that in the beginning. Now it is very smooth, little pedal effort and a improved pedal travel. It is these details that need to be addressed when building a car from scratch.

Wheel wells in progress:
Working with cardboard to create the look for a wheel well tub and transfer to plywood.
Gave it a little bit of a radius with some cheap ceiling tile and a sheet of 18ga to give it a smooth form. A little body filler and you have your plug. The mold is now pulled off the plug and ready for the 2x2 twill carbon fiber layup. No vacuum bagging here. Just a simple wet resin layup and hope for the best.  One layer of carbon and three layers of glass cloth which is nothing more to give the tubs a little thickness and protect the top layer from flying rocks and possible spider cracks. I will coat the underside with bed liner to help even more.

Check out my new bio (thanks to Doug Grad Literary) on my about us page. Maybe something will come out of all of this. We can always dream. Until then, I will continue my struggle to find my place in this world and thanks for checking in-Ken
